The Sycamore (Acer pseudoplatanus) is an egg-shaped, picturesque large tree that produces greenish-yellow flowers arranged in clusters. They appear from May to June. The Sycamore also has dark green leaves. Its bark is silver-grey and scaly. In a sunny to semi-shady location with well-drained, calcareous soil, it usually reaches a height of around 30 metres and is around 20 metres wide.

Growth

Sycamore is an egg-shaped, picturesque large tree. It usually reaches a height of 25 - 30 m and is approx. 15 - 20 m wide. As a rule, it grows 40 - 50 cm per year.

Shoots

The shoots of Acer pseudoplatanus are olive green in colour.

Leaves

The deciduous leaves of Sycamore are dark green, opposite, lobed. Sycamore is bright golden yellow in autumn.

Bark

Silver-grey, scaly bark makes this plant an eye-catcher in any garden.

Flower

The greenish-yellow flowers of the Sycamore appear in clusters from May to June.

Acer pseudoplatanus is a heartroot.
