Japanese maple 'Dissectum Garnet' is a broad, umbrella-shaped and overhanging shrub. It usually reaches a height of 1.5 - 2 m and is approx. 2.5 - 4 m wide. Slow growing. Usually grows 10 - 15 cm per year.

High leaf ornamental value. The deciduous leaves of the Japanese maple 'Dissectum Garnet's are purple-red, deeply slit and opposite. They are about 6 - 11 cm in size. Red, early shoots. Japanese maple 'Dissectum Garnet' turns a bright dark red in autumn.

The purple-red flowers of the Japanese maple 'Dissectum Garnet' appear in clusters in May.

Acer palmatum 'Dissectum Garnet' is a shallow-rooted plant and, depending on the soil, forms finely branched roots.

Preferred location in a sunny to semi-shady, wind-protected position.

The Japanese maple 'Dissectum Garnet' has good frost hardiness.

The plant has a medium water requirement.

- Cut and saw wounds as well as broken branches should be treated with a wound sealant as soon as possible to prevent pathogens from entering the plant.
- Frozen shoots are cut back to the healthy wood as soon as there is no longer any risk of frost.

This plant is tolerant of pruning.

Container plants can be planted all year round, except when the soil is frozen and in summer heat (over 30°C).
