The Box elder (Acer negundo) is a loose, multi-stemmed, picturesque large shrub that produces light yellow flowers arranged in clusters. They appear from March to April. These produce creamy white winged fruits. The Box elder also has pinnate, light green leaves. In a sunny to semi-shady location, it usually reaches a height of around 15 metres and grows to a width of around 12 metres. The Box elder makes no special demands on the soil.

Box elder is a loose, multi-stemmed, picturesque large shrub. It usually reaches a height of 10 - 15 m and is approx. 10 - 12 m wide. It usually grows 40 - 45 cm per year.

The shoots of Acer negundo are dark green.

Leaves

The deciduous leaves of Box elder are light green, pinnate and opposite. Box elder is bright yellow in autumn.

Flower

The light yellow flowers of Box elder appear in clusters from March to April.
