Turning Old into New: Don't Throw Away Flower Pots!

**Reuse Instead of Discard**

It's not just the industry that can recycle materials and give used items a second, extended life. With a bit of imagination and creativity, you too can turn old flower pots into beautiful new things that are both decorative and useful.

**A Sturdy Christmas Tree Stand**

An old, Christmas-themed plant pot can quickly be transformed into a durable and stable Christmas tree stand that will serve you for many years. Whether you or your children come up with a festive design to paint on the pot, use a beautiful fabric or ribbon, or grab a spray can of gold paint and glitter – an old, outdated flower pot, when redecorated, provides a heavy and secure base for your Christmas tree.

To make this, fill a pot large enough with concrete or plaster. Place a cardboard tube in the center with the diameter of the tree plus an additional 2 cm. After it hardens, place the tree in the tube and fill the gap with moist sand.

Old, unsightly plant pots can also be used as a cost-effective filler for a larger flower pot. By placing the small pot upside down inside the large one, you'll not only save on expensive soil but also significantly reduce the weight. This can be especially important if you are keeping an exotic plant in the pot that needs to be moved regularly between the greenhouse and back.

**Garden Furniture from Flower Pots**

Placed on high rollers and topped with a decorative plate, an old flower pot can be transformed into a new piece of garden furniture, such as a trunk table. Whether it’s a round or square pot, simply adjust the tabletop accordingly. If the appearance of your pot no longer appeals to you, you can achieve a fresh look by using materials like film, trim, sticks, pebbles, broken tiles, mirrors, and many other creative materials. For attachment, you can use hot glue, tile adhesive, decorative cords and ribbons, or wire, depending on the material. Even raffia and strips of plastic bags can create creative accents.

Matching sturdy stools can also be made. To do this, decorate the flower pot again and attach a wooden board on top. You can then cover it with fabric or foil using a stapler or place a cushion on it for added comfort.
