The Fountain in the Garden – Not Only Popular with the Frog King

Plants in the garden need a lot of water, that's a given. But what happens if it doesn’t rain enough? Then the plants need to be watered additionally. To prevent this from leading to an empty wallet, a well is not a bad idea.

Watering flowers can quickly become an endless task in the summer. Automatic irrigation systems are a good alternative. But the more water that is used, the more expensive the gardening hobby becomes.

*Not without permission*

These days, there are hardly any households not connected to the public drinking water network. However, water in the garden plays a completely different role than in the house. What is common in rural areas is hardly found in cities: a well in one's own garden. Anyone who wants to have a well in their garden must first obtain permission from the local authorities. They can also provide information about the depth at which groundwater can be expected on the affected property. This is important information that affects the cost estimate for drilling. Additionally, the authorities can provide details about the quality of the water and its potential uses.

*Choosing the right well*

A well is not just a well. There are different types of wells, depending on the depth of the groundwater. A shaft well, a flushing well, or a driven well are suitable when the groundwater level is about 7 meters deep. If the groundwater is deeper, drilling is required. Depending on how deep the drilling needs to go, it's advisable to rely on the expertise of construction companies that specialize in such drilling projects. If the drilling is not very deep, the future well owner can rent special drills to carry out the work. Once the well shaft is created, a pump is needed to bring the water to the surface.

*An affordable thirst quencher for the garden*

Especially in summer, water consumption can quickly rise. This applies not only to people but also to the plants in the garden. When the summer is very hot and there is little rain, many municipalities encourage garden owners not to use precious drinking water for lawn sprinkling. Additionally, drinking water can become an expensive drain on the wallet for a large garden that needs a lot of watering. Therefore, a well is a cost-effective and good alternative to tap water, especially for large gardens that require a lot of irrigation. Moreover, a well can also be beautifully integrated into the garden visually.
