The Purple chokeberry 'Nero' (Aronia x prunifolia) produces black-blue, small, juicy fruits. They are round and have a fruity, tart flavour. Well-drained, humus-rich, nutrient-rich, undemanding soil and a sunny to semi-shady location create the ideal conditions for a high-yielding harvest from September. Its white flowers are a beautiful sight. With its upright growth, the Purple chokeberry 'Nero' grows to around 4 m high and 2.5 m wide.

Purple chokeberry 'Nero' is a large, upright-growing shrub that can reach a height of 3 - 4 m and a width of 2 - 2.5 m.

Leaves

The deciduous leaves of the Purple chokeberry 'Nero' are medium green, ovate and serrated. Purple chokeberry 'Nero' turns a bright dark red in autumn.

Flower

Aronia x prunifolia 'Nero' forms white flowers from May.

Fruit

Aronia x prunifolia 'Nero' forms black-blue, round fruits.

Root

Aronia x prunifolia 'Nero' is a shallow-rooting plant and, depending on the soil, forms runner-forming roots.
