With its dark green leaves, Water hyacinth (Aponogeton distachyos) is an extremely decorative aquatic plant that is particularly suitable for areas such as ponds, bee pastures and pond edges. Creamy white, strongly scented flowers appear from July to October. It prefers humusy, loamy soil in a sunny position. The Water hyacinth is well tolerant of frost. The sprawling plant usually reaches a height of approx. 10 cm.

The deciduous leaves of the Water hyacinth are dark green, lanceolate.

Flower

The creamy white flowers of Water hyacinth appear in spikes from July to October. They grow to about 5 - 10 cm tall and are strongly scented.

The Water hyacinth has good frost hardiness.

Use

Care

This plant needs to be fed regularly with special fertiliser to ensure that it thrives and provides plenty of pleasure.
