The Star grass (Callitriche palustris) with its glossy, green leaves is an extremely decorative aquatic plant that is particularly suitable for areas such as ponds and streams. White flowers appear from June to September. It prefers well-drained, lime-free, nutrient-rich soil in a sunny to semi-shady position. The Star grass is well tolerant of frost. The runner-forming, flat, winter-green plant usually reaches a height of approx. 6 cm.

Growth

Stoloniferous, flat.

Leaves

The wintergreen leaves of the Star grass are glossy, green, lanceolate.

Flower

The white flowers appear from June to September. They grow to about 3 - 5 cm in size.

Location

Preferred location in a sunny to semi-shady position.

Frost hardiness

The Star grass has good frost hardiness.

Use

This plant needs to be fed regularly with special fertiliser to ensure that it thrives and provides plenty of pleasure.
