The Most Popular Houseplants

Houseplants not only create a pleasant indoor climate, but they also delight us with their greenery during the cold season, adding coziness and comfort to our rooms all year round. Very popular houseplants like cyclamen and azaleas can be found in almost every home. However, there are also plants that are particularly well-suited for families with children, as well as exotic ones that add a touch of extravagance to a room.

Child-friendly Plants

Among the easy-care and robust houseplants is the spider plant. Whether in sunny or shady spots, it can thrive anywhere and doesn't mind small care mistakes. It also helps purify the air by breaking down various pollutants, keeping the indoor air healthy.
Another great "beginner plant" is the creeping Jenny. It enjoys bright and warm spots but doesn't like direct sunlight. It grows beautifully downward, making it ideal as a hanging plant.
For children to take care of a plant, it must primarily meet one condition: It must appeal to them.

Exotic Houseplants

The hibiscus is more commonly known as a garden plant, but it can also be grown indoors and, with good care, can reach up to two meters in height. Its beautiful, large flowers are available in a variety of colors.
The Cyprus grass is also very popular. It loves waterlogged conditions, which would harm most plants, as it is essentially a swamp plant. Temperatures above 10°C are ideal for it. However, if you have a cat, you might want to skip this plant, as cats tend to confuse its green foliage with their food bowl.
Similarly decorative is the mountain palm. It is easy to care for and prefers bright, warm locations. Additionally, it is quite undemanding. However, it gets very thirsty during the summer.
Also suitable for both indoors and outdoors is the slipper flower. It's popular for its brightly colored, decorative flowers. It requires plenty of water but does not tolerate waterlogging. A semi-shady spot is ideal for it.
