A jungle in your own living room

Anyone who spends a lot of time in the office or in rather bare rooms longs for a green oasis in their own four walls. Especially in the living room, many houseplants can create a real little jungle.

Houseplants are not only very decorative, they also improve the indoor climate, purify the air, and make a room feel much more livable. By combining the right houseplants, you can transform your living room into a small jungle.

Green air purifiers

Many air-purifying houseplants are very low-maintenance, making it easy even for the laziest hobby gardeners to transform their home into a jungle. The snake plant impresses with its beautiful patterned leaves and can survive for some time without water. This houseplant converts harmful substances in the air into oxygen and regulates the humidity in the room. The peace lily provides lush green leaves and lovely flowers. This plant filters out toxic substances released by furniture adhesives, improving the air quality and creating a fresh atmosphere. Ivy is a must in the jungle. This plant has the greatest air-purifying effect and can climb throughout the entire room.

Green survivors

Many houseplants require special care, need to be watered regularly, or must be placed in specific locations. This deters many people from bringing a jungle into their living rooms. However, there are plants that thrive with little care and forgive care mistakes quickly. The Schefflera is the undisputed number one. It doesn’t hold a grudge if it’s neglected for weeks. On the contrary: when cared for, it rewards you with impressive growth. The pothos is also a very low-maintenance plant. Weekly watering and some light are perfectly fine for this houseplant. If it doesn’t like its location, the pothos will show it through yellow leaves, but after a change of spot, it will quickly bounce back to its old self.

Green decorative elements

What would a jungle in the living room be without decoration besides the plants? Of course, the decoration can be customized to match personal favorite colors, but decorative elements made of natural materials bring a special touch to the jungle. Tree slices are perfect as coasters for plant pots. Some houseplants don’t like the cold windowsill beneath their roots, while others get dry feet from the underfloor heating. On a coaster, the green roommates are protected from cold and heat. Fluffy cushions and blankets in the colors of the rest of the decoration make the living room into a cozy jungle where one can relax and enjoy the fresh air.
