The Front Door as a Business Card – Ideas for Autumn Decoration

When Indian summer arrives, it's time to take care of autumn decoration. The front door needs a new wreath, and there is surely enough space next to it for a seasonally appropriate welcome greeting.

With minimal effort, the entrance can be decorated. The pleasant warm colors between summer and winter play a significant role here. The wreath base looks great in shades of carmine red to dark brown. Whether you make the base yourself from natural materials or buy a ready-made one to wrap is a matter of time. Then, you can add dried flowers, seasonal berries, and a few small ornamental apples. Decorate the round shape completely or just two-thirds. This creates a simple yet attractive version. Depending on your preference, figures can join in, such as a jute owl, a felt squirrel, or a wooden deer. Want it simple but more personalized? String colorful leaves of various lengths on threads, with some made from felt or sturdy craft paper. Attach them to a sturdy branch. Hang glass crystals inside and bring everything together as a wreath alternative on the front door. Everyone will enjoy the autumn charm!

The typical autumn gifts that our trees provide are perfect for autumn decorations. Acorns, chestnuts, and nuts can serve as the base for door decorations as well as additions to creative autumn arrangements in the entrance area. A heart completely covered with these fruits of nature is an eye-catching piece before the guests ring the doorbell. The shiny chestnuts are also effective when displayed in a large glass. It sits on a small wooden table with a voluminous autumn bouquet as a companion. Do you have autumn asters, dahlias, or hydrangeas in your garden? Then the question of what the bouquet will be made of is already answered. Add small gnome figures, and the atmosphere will be perfect.

Even before the winter season, pine cones can be added to the decorations. For example, on a large plate that rests on a metal stand or a tree stump. Line it with moss and add seasonal fruits or dried flowers, or both. If a bit of vine hangs down from one side, the whole arrangement looks even more appealing. But you can also use the dry pine cones for a wreath. To avoid it looking too much like Christmas, paint them in different colors. This is especially fun for children.

If you have natural levels like stairs, there's plenty of space for floral autumn decorations. Heather in terracotta pots, roses in wicker baskets, or lantern flowers in a hollowed-out pumpkin are great options to accompany the front door. A shelf and everything that can be arranged on it also allow for diverse decoration. Here, some lavender, there a candle holder, over there a rowan branch, in between the last blooming roses arranged in a bouquet, and finally, an UFO-shaped pumpkin.

Pumpkins are truly a decoration idea in themselves. This fruit comes in sizes from very small to very large and in several colors, some even bicolored. Therefore, pumpkins are already a source of autumnal decor for the front door. Large, medium, and small shapes, arranged one above the other, create a typical image of the third season. For those not afraid of a little extra work, place various sizes of pumpkins in a basket and add some twigs or straw. As a bonus, you can add a few apples. Additionally, anything the farmer's or herb garden still offers is worth considering. Then, add a nice figure on a long stick. From a ball to birds and hedgehogs, there is a lot of choice in specialty shops. By the way, if you choose pumpkins as the main stars of your autumn decor, all you need to do for Halloween is hollow out a few and place a light inside.

The American Thanksgiving is also a popular reason for lavish decor here. Now, the pumpkin is a must-have. How about using a tub or an old zinc trough in the entryway before the front door? Add corn cobs, small bundles of grain, and large sunflower blooms, and best of all, place a huge candle inside. Lantern flowers, big bows, and lots of greenery in between complete the picture. Guests will also appreciate a string of lights running through the variety of natural elements. Now, it's time to enjoy it all before the first frost arrives.
