The White fir (Abies concolor) is a tree that grows loosely in a conical shape and usually reaches a height of around 25 metres and a width of around 9 metres. Its needle-shaped leaves are grey-green in colour. They turn a beautiful blue-grey in winter. Decorative light brown cones adorn Abies concolor from September. This shrub is well tolerant of frost and prefers well-drained, nutrient-rich, slightly acidic soil in a sunny to semi-shady position.

Growth

White fir is a conical and loosely growing tree. It usually reaches a height of 20 - 25 m and is approx. 7 - 9 m wide. As a rule, it grows 30 - 50 cm per year.

Leaves

The White fir is evergreen. Its needles are grey-green. Silver-grey shoots. With its blue-grey foliage, it sets beautiful accents in winter.

Bark

Grey, scaly bark makes this plant an eye-catcher in any garden.

Fruit

The elongated, light brown cones of Abies concolor appear from September. The young cones have a green-red colour.

Abies concolor is a deep-rooted or heart-rooted tree.
