Flowers for the Wedding – Ideal Gift or Rather Superfluous?

Flowers are simply a part of a wedding. But not only as decoration on the tables, flowers are a good choice. Flowers are also a great idea as a gift for the bride and groom because they always hit the right note.

As a gift at a wedding, it doesn’t necessarily have to be the classic bouquet. There are many ways to package flowers as a gift for the couple and incorporate them into presents.

The Classic

Although opinions may differ on the subject of flowers as a wedding gift, if someone wants to give a bouquet, they are of course welcome to do so. After all, the gift should reflect both the giver’s taste and the couple's preferences, and if someone loves bouquets, they should definitely share that joy with others. A bouquet is always a good way to express affection and happiness. However, attention should be paid to the flowers included in the bouquet. Some flowers are better avoided when giving them as a wedding gift. Roses are always a safe bet. If they are red or white, it's hard to go wrong. Lilies and gerberas also work well for a bouquet as a gift for the couple. White lilies symbolize pure love and a pure heart. The romantic gerbera says to the couple, “You make everything much more beautiful!” On the other hand, it's best to avoid Christmas roses and tulips in the bouquet. Christmas roses are said to symbolize fear and anxiety, which is certainly not something you want at a wedding. Tulips represent emotional coldness and are better suited for the garden than for a wedding bouquet.

Perfectly Combined Flowers

Many wedding guests might think, “Why give a bouquet? The bride already has one!” This thought is not entirely unfounded, as after the celebration, the couple will likely have several flower arrangements, and an additional bouquet might not stand out. However, it doesn’t always have to be the classic bouquet. While household items were once common wedding gifts, cash gifts have become more popular than ever. Since giving money alone in a card can feel awkward rather than pleasant, it’s a great idea to combine cash gifts with flowers. This could be either a bouquet or a flower arrangement. Potted plants are also a popular wedding gift. How about a small tree? The couple can symbolically plant it in their garden, representing their growing love. Alternatively, multiple flowers in a planter make for a wonderful gift. They last much longer than cut flowers, and the couple will enjoy them for a long time. The rule here is: anything goes as long as it’s something the couple will love.

Hitting the Right Note

Flowers are a tricky subject. Many people don’t give much thought to the meaning of flowers and their colors beforehand. If the couple is knowledgeable about flower symbolism, this can quickly become awkward. Therefore, there are a few color rules to keep in mind when giving flowers as a wedding gift. If you want to be on the safe side, stick to colors that are suitable for wedding flowers. Red is always a safe choice, no question. The darker and more intense the red, the more it symbolizes love, passion, and determination. White is less passionate but stands for purity, honesty, and grace. While white once symbolized death and was commonly seen on cemeteries, its meaning has since turned positive. Pink, green, and blue are also great choices. Pink represents tender feelings and young love, green symbolizes hope, vitality, and strength, and blue stands for loyalty, stability, and depth. These are the ideal colors for wedding flowers. The couple will surely appreciate it, and there’s no need to worry about any awkwardness.
