GaLaBau 2024: A successful trade fair full of innovations and inspiration

The GaLaBau 2024 in Nuremberg is over, and the Lorberg tree nursery can look back on four intensive and enriching days. As long-time exhibitors at this important trade fair for urban green and open spaces, it was a great pleasure to be there again and to experience the 25th anniversary of this outstanding event. This year, GaLaBau remained the central meeting point for the gardening and landscaping industry and was again very well attended.

A place for exchange and networking

GaLaBau once again proved to be the place where experts from all areas of the green industry meet to exchange ideas about the latest trends and innovations. Networking was clearly the focus, and it was impressive to see how lively the exchange was between visitors and exhibitors. Whether short technical discussions, spontaneous encounters or planned network meetings – GaLaBau remains the place where the industry comes together and inspires one another.

Exciting accompanying program: Landscape Talks and more

In addition to the many exhibitors, GaLaBau 2024 also offered an extremely interesting supporting program, including the Landscape Talks format, which was particularly aimed at municipalities and landscape architects and presented current topics in strong short lectures. The lectures were well attended and offered valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities of the green industry. For many participants, this accompanying program was a highlight as it offered in-depth specialist knowledge in a compact form and at the same time created space for discussions.

Future topics: Climate change, sustainability and e-mobility in focus

Climate change is becoming more and more one of the central topics of GaLaBau - as it was this year. In particular, the industry's key role in the fight against the overheating of our cities and the huge need for redesign were discussed intensively. The focus was on innovative solutions such as climate trees, climate stones and climate walls, which are intended to help counteract rising temperatures in urban areas. These approaches were presented in a practical way and showed how cities can be made more resilient to the consequences of climate change.

Another important topic was the green-blue infrastructure, which combines water management and greenery to make cities more resilient to extreme weather events such as heavy rain or heat waves. In particular, the concept of the Sponge City, in which urban spaces are designed so that no surface water is drained away but is instead collected and reused on site, was present at many stands and in lectures.

E-mobility also increasingly came into focus. Electric vehicles and machines are becoming increasingly important in gardening and landscaping in order to reduce CO₂ emissions and operate more sustainably. Numerous exhibitors presented their latest solutions in the field of e-mobility and showed how the industry can make an important contribution to climate change in this area too.

Conclusion: Inspiration and optimism for the future

GaLaBau 2024 has once again proven that it is the leading industry event for urban greenery and open spaces. The Lorberg tree nursery was able to have many inspiring conversations, make valuable contacts and take home numerous innovative concepts and ideas. What was particularly pleasing was that the industry is looking to the future with a lot of optimism and drive despite the challenges of climate change.

With its clear focus on sustainability, GaLaBau 2024 has made it clear that the green industry not only operates in the here and now, but also plays a significant role in shaping the future. We at the Lorberg tree nursery are looking forward to the next GaLaBau 2026 and to continuing to work together with our partners on a greener future.
