The Warted barberry (Berberis verruculosa) is an ovoid, compact, overhanging shrub with decorative, black, elongated fruits. It produces golden yellow flowers from May to June. The Warted barberry also has dark green leaves. In a sunny to shady location, it usually reaches a height of around 2 metres and grows to around 2 metres wide. The Warted barberry makes no special demands on the soil.

Warted barberry is an ovoid, compact and overhanging shrub. It usually reaches a height of 1 - 2 m and is approx. 1 - 2 m wide.

The shoots of Berberis verruculosa are spiny.

Leaves

The evergreen leaves of the Warted barberry are dark green, alternate, wavy. They are about 1 - 2 cm in size. With its scarlet-red foliage, it sets beautiful accents in winter.

Bark

Brown-yellow bark makes this plant an eye-catcher in any garden.

Flower

The golden yellow flowers appear from May to June.

Fruit

The black, elongated fruits of Berberis verruculosa are particularly decorative. These appear from August.
