The Barberry 'Amstelveen' (Berberis x frikartii) is a dense, branched small shrub with decorative, red, oval fruits. It produces yellow flowers from May to June. The Barberry 'Amstelveen' also has egg-shaped, dark green leaves. In a sunny to semi-shady location, it usually reaches a height of approx. 1 m and grows to approx. 1 m wide. The Barberry 'Amstelveen' makes no particular demands on the soil.

Growth

Barberry 'Amstelveen' is a small shrub that grows densely and branches out. It usually reaches a height of 0.8 - 1 m and is approx. 0.7 - 1 m wide. It usually grows 12 - 15 cm per year.

Shoots

The shoots of Berberis x frikartii 'Amstelveen' are spiny, reddish-brown.

Leaves

The evergreen leaves of the Barberry 'Amstelveen' are dark green, egg-shaped. They are about 3 - 4 cm in size.
