The Box-leaved barberry 'Nana' (Berberis buxifolia) is a dense, compact, roundish dwarf shrub that produces golden yellow, bell-shaped flowers. They appear in May. The Box-leaved barberry 'Nana' also has leathery, rounded, dark green leaves with a red edge. In a sunny to semi-shady location, it usually reaches a height of approx. 50 cm and is approx. 80 cm wide. The Box-leaved barberry 'Nana' makes no particular demands on the soil.

Shoots

The shoots of Berberis buxifolia 'Nana' are spiny, reddish-brown.

Leaves

The evergreen leaves of Box-leaved barberry 'Nana' are dark green, roundish, leathery, alternate and have a red margin. They are about 1 - 2 cm in size.

Flower

The golden-yellow, bell-shaped flowers appear in May.
