The Snowy mespilus (Amelanchier lamarckii) is an upright, multi-stemmed large shrub that produces white flowers. They appear from April to May. Dark blue, round fruits emerge from these from June. They are small. The Snowy mespilus also has egg-shaped, medium-green leaves. The copper-orange shoots are also an interesting sight. In a sunny to semi-shady location with well-drained, humus-rich soil, it usually reaches a height of around 8 metres and grows to a width of around 8 metres.

Snowy mespilus is an upright and multi-stemmed large shrub. It usually reaches a height of 6 - 8 m and is approx. 4 - 8 m wide. It usually grows 20 - 25 cm per year.

Leaves

The deciduous leaves of the Snowy mespilus are medium green, ovate and alternate. They are about 3 - 8 cm in size. Copper-orange shoots. Snowy mespilus turns bright orange-red in autumn.

Flower

The white flowers appear from April to May.

Fruit

The dark blue, small stone fruits have a sweet flavour. The stone fruits are round. Ripening time from June.

Root

Amelanchier lamarckii is a shallow-rooting plant and, depending on the soil, forms densely branched roots.

Preferred location in a sunny to semi-shady position.
